For two decades, TRIBES magazine has traveled the indie scene spotlighting artists generating the next trends in expression.  A voice for the voiceless, TRIBES put the spotlight on the unsung heroes—the musicians dropping beats, the poets spitting truth, and the painters pushing boundaries! Each issue of TRIBE throbbed with the beat of music, politics, visual art, and photography, and bursted with articles, poetry and personal narratives authored by a winning team of entertainment journalists, artists, and social critics. Over the years, TRIBES carved our path with unapologetic flair, earning accolades like “Best Online Zine” at the esteemed Black Web Awards in 2009, and the coveted title of “Poetry Magazine of the Year” in 2010.

We didn’t top there. TRIBES took it to the next level with TRIBES Radio Online, where we showcased the hottest tracks from the best spoken word poets and Hip Hop artists around. And, when TRIBES TV hit the public TV airwaves in 2008, our indie movement spread like wildfire. TRIBES’ annual anniversary events were epic showcases where the best Hip Hop artists and spoken word poets came to set the stage on fire. In 2011, TRIBES Entertainment Films was born to unearth real stories of little known pioneers and subcultures.
